About
Emily is an English-Japanese director, screendance artist, filmmaker, and choreographer based in Essex and London. She currently works at The Place Theatre as a camera operator, filming various stage and studio performances.

Emily's physical theatre and dance show, She’s F***ing Tired, was part of the Camden Fringe Festival 2024 and FUSE International Festival's Dance Showcase 2024.
Her film, Emma won Best Short Film at FUSE Film Festival 2024, and was selected and screened at Frame Rush Festival 2022.
She also co-produced two online screendance festivals, Frame Rush Festival 2021 and ScreenShare as part of the MESA Festival 2020.

Emily directs, films and edits various kinds of screendance, including stop motion, and works with contemporary dance and film to create meaningful narratives that resonate with audiences on stage and on screen.
She originally trained as a dancer, but transitioned into filmmaking after her Bachelor's Degree in Choreography at Middlesex University, London. She also completed her Master of Arts at London Contemporary Dance School graduating with a Distinction in Screendance. Emily enjoys collaborating and has worked with sound artists, designers, and animators.
