Pixilation Experiment

A research project collaborating dance and animation.
I led two sessions of contact jam and improvisation tasks to generate movement for the camera, exploring different speeds in one frame, the dynamic quality of the still body and the magical effects of stop motion. I shot each movement task as still frames with a camera during the sessions.

Through wider investigations of animation in dance, that value its practices and collaborations, we can expand what the dance body can do and renew our understanding of its potential as an animated form.
